What People Are Saying

“December was too crazy last year (or I was too unwilling to take the chance of feeling guilty about not doing more for missions at the time), and so I finally opened it in late January. And I couldn’t put it down…this whole year.”

— Caryn

“ It is incredibly beautiful, deep and meaningful. You and your family can even engage by participating in the challenge at the end of each chapter. If you want an advent that you will actually FINISHthis is the book for you! I promise, you'll have to stop yourself from reading ahead.”

— Shanna

“I got this paperback copy last year and it was AMAZING! It is the first Advent that I have ACTUALLY finished. If I am being honest, I usually get bored doing Advents but this one kept my attention! There is even an "engage" section at the end of each day that gives you different challenges. I loved this Advent and it is definitely a new tradition in my house. ”

Meet The Author

Shari Tvrdik was called to missions among the suffering poor of Mongolia in 2009. It was there in Mongolia where God used the same people she went to help, to draw her closer to Jesus. She likes to say that in Mongolia God both ruined and re-invented her into a woman of deep faith and passion for Christ. During her eight years of missionary work in Mongolia Shari had the privilege of running Desert Rose, a shelter for street girls as well as working alongside her husband Troy as he directed Flourishing Future. The two accidentally planted a church in an unreached community and discovered the gems of growth God had laid out for them all along the missions journey. Now back in the United States, Shari works as Executive Director at Cup of Cold Water Ministries where she serves to help people go and stay where God has called them to serve. Troy and Shari have been married since 1992 and are parents to four beautiful souls and grandparents to five perfect humans. Shari is the author of two books: Swimming in Awkward one woman’s deep dive into missions and One Baby for The World, 24 days of Advent from a Missions Perspective.

Everyday….I think to myself—I’ll be able to read through this devotion in a heart of worship time with my 6 grandchildren without crying all the way through. It is impossible.”

— Betty White (former missionary)
